Arm Lift

What is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift, or brachioplasty surgery, removes excess skin, providing tighter and more defined contours. Extra skin around the arms can develop due to significant weight loss, aging, and genetics. If you are self-conscious about your arms and find yourself hiding under loose-fitting sleeves year-round, arm lift surgery may be right for you.

Am I a Good Candidate for Arm Lift?

Good candidates for an arm lift are individuals who:
• Have loose, sagging skin on the upper arms due to weight loss, aging, or genetics.
• Are in overall good health and do not have medical conditions that could impair healing.
• Are at a stable weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
• Do not smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery.
• Have realistic expectations about the results and understand the presence of some scarring.
If you’re unsure whether an arm lift is right for you, scheduling a consultation can help determine if you’re a good candidate.

How to Prepare for Arm Lift Surgery?

Beforehand, patients will be asked to undergo a private consultation to discuss their medical history and goals. Patients should avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin or ibuprofen, as they can increase bleeding risk during and after surgery. Maintaining a stable weight is essential since significant fluctuations can affect your final results, and having loose, comfortable clothing and any necessary supplies on hand will help ensure a smoother and more comfortable recovery.

The Arm Lift Procedure

One of our Board Certified Surgeons will create a natural look and shape your upper arms by removing the excess skin and tissue. An incision on the inside of the upper arm skin hides scarring. Once the incision is made, liposuction techniques may be used to suction out excess fat and surgically remove the loose skin.

Arm Lift Recovery

Following your arm lift surgery, you’ll need to wear a compressive dressing that will remain in place for 8 weeks. The procedure typically results in mild to moderate pain, which can be managed with prescription medication. However, recovery time is relatively short, and you should be back to work within a week or two.
