Breast Augmentation
What is Breast Augmentation?
Do you dream of larger, fuller breasts? A breast augmentation in one of our four locations may be everything you’re hoping to achieve.
Breast enlargement surgery involves the use of breast implants to create fuller breasts. Some women are born with a small amount of natural breast tissue. Others may benefit from a breast augmentation or breast implant surgery to restore volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Our board-certified cosmetic surgeon offers breast augmentations in Nashville, TN and our other office locations Tullahoma and Clarksville, TN, as well as Hopkinsville, KY.
If you are dissatisfied with your breast size, consider breast augmentation surgery to enhance your physique and boost your confidence.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
Breast surgery may be a good option for you if meet the following qualifications:
- Physically healthy
- Realistic expectations
- Breast tissue is fully developed
- Feel your breasts are too small
- Dissatisfied with your breasts losing shape and volume as a result of pregnancy, weight loss, or aging
- Breasts are not symmetrical
- One or both breasts failed to develop normally
However, breast augmentation surgery does not correct severely drooping breasts.
If you want your breasts to look fuller or want them lifted due to sagging, you may want to consider a breast lift. This can often be done at the same time as your breast augmentation surgery – but, it may require a separate procedure. One of our doctors will assist you in making this decision.
How to Prepare for Breast Augmentation
The first step to prepare for your surgical procedure is by scheduling a consultation with our expert team. At your consultation, our board-certified surgeon will assess your breasts, discuss the pros and cons of saline implants vs. silicone implants, and explain the procedure in detail to make sure it is right for you. Your medical history will also be discussed and we can give you information about breast augmentation cost, based on the specifics of your personalized procedure.
Before the procedure, patients should stop smoking for at least two weeks and avoid the use of blood-thinning medications and herbal supplements, which our staff will discuss with you. Staying hydrated and eating a healthy diet will give your body the nutrients it needs to safely and quickly recover.
The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentations are typically performed under monitored anesthesia care with local anesthetic medicine at our accredited surgery center. At the start of the procedure, your breast augmentation surgeon will make an incision under the breast. They will insert the breast implants you’ve chosen either underneath the pectoralis (the chest muscle) or just above the pectoralis (sub glandular); implant insertion options can be discussed in consultation.
We offer saline breast implants, silicone breast implants, and gummy bear implants, a new type of silicone gel breast implants. All are safe and can provide natural-looking results. You can discuss all of the options, including materials, size, and more, during your initial consultation.
Breast Implant Types
When planning your breast augmentation surgery, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the right implant type. Each option has unique advantages depending on your breast volume goals, breast tissue, and anatomy:
- Silicone gel implants: Silicone breast implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel that closely mimics natural breast tissue, offering a soft, realistic feel. Available in various shapes and sizes, these implants provide long-lasting, natural-looking results.
- Saline breast implants: Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater after placement, allowing for smaller incisions and easy size adjustment for symmetry. If a rupture occurs, the saline is safely absorbed by the body, making this option appealing for its simplicity and safety.
